Hi,
When I tried to record my application in Chrome browser, Ranorex identifies it as NativeWindow. But, I am expecting it to recognize it as WebElement so that I can identify attributes as InnerText during my Validation. But, I don't understand why it recognizes it as NativeWindow.
I am using Ranorex 5.1.2.
Kindly let me know how to proceed.
Thanks,
Harini.
Application opened from Chrome is identified as NativeWindow
Re: Application opened from Chrome is identified as NativeWindow
Please upgrade to a current version of Ranorex (5.3.2 is current right now). Version 5.1.2 is no longer supported.
Also, please include more information:
What version of Windows are you using?
What version of Chrome are you using?
Did you download the Ranorex Chrome Extension from the Chrome Web Store? Is the extension enabled?

Re: Application opened from Chrome is identified as NativeWindow
Hi,
Windows version - 7
Chrome version - Version 42.0.2311.90 m
My company has not downloaded Ranorex Chrome Extension from Chrome Web store.
But, we will be upgrading to 5.3.2 soon.
So, is this reason why objects are identified as NativeWindow attributes? For now, is there a way that my current ranorex version can identify objects as WebElement attributes?
Thanks,
Harini.

Yes, you cannot use Ranorex with Chrome without loading the Ranorex Chrome Extension.
Your company doesn't need to download the extension, only the systems where Ranorex is being used to test Chrome web pages need to have the extension.
In Ranorex, open the Tools menu, click "Instrumentation Wizard". Select "Google Chrome" and Ranorex will open Chrome to the store page for the Ranorex Chrome extension. You can install it directly from there.
