Bug Report - Editing Usercode/Code Module Causes Lag
When editing usercode or a code module using Ranorex 5.1.0, Ranorex temporarily freezes and becomes very laggy. CPU usage spikes to 25%-32% during the unresponsiveness. This occurs when entering text, deleting text, and pasting text. The previous version, 5.0.3 did not produce these results on the same physical machine with the same settings.
Ranorex Version: 5.1.0.18625
.NET Runtime Version 4.0.30319.18444
CPU: AMD quadcore 3240

Re: Bug Report - Editing Usercode/Code Module Causes Lag
Hello paulsfelten,
Unfortunately we did not face something similar in the past using Ranorex 5.1. May I ask if this behavior occurs when editing a specific solution or in general? If the issue is related to a specific solution and it’s possible for you, may I ask you to send it to [email protected] for further analysis? If not, we suggest doing a clean re-install of Ranorex:
Regards,
Robert

I concur. I am seeing the same slowness in 5.1.0. Edit response time of 5.1.0 seems much slower than 5.0.3, by a factor of about 5 or more. The solution I work on most has over 1000 code modules...VB Class files, VB Ranorex Code Modules.
System is Windows 7, 64 bit, 16 GB memory.

I am not seeing any issues with Ranorex responsiveness. I don't usually have a lot of files open though. Could that be the issue for you guys? How many files do you have open at the same time? (This shouldn't be an issue, but maybe we can narrow it down.)
My specs: Windows 7 x64, 12 GB, Ranorex 5.1.0

Only 4 files open and it is happening. 1 .rxtst + 3 .vb files.

Have you tried a clean re-install of Ranorex?
1. Uninstall Ranorex.
2. Reboot.
3. Re-install Ranorex.

We have the same issue. We uninstalled and installed again and it didn't get better. And it is getting worse. Now it is freezing frequently.
It also stops working when the "break" key is pressed in an execution. It seems to get better after compilation but as soon as you change something it gets slow again. The click response also gets slow.
Please help

Re: Bug Report - Editing Usercode/Code Module Causes Lag
Hi guys,
Could anyone of you experiencing this issue send their Ranorex solution to support_at_ranorex.com, please?
If we have the problematic solution in house we can probably reproduce the issue quickly and hopefully find the cause and a fix for it.
Was anyone able to fix or work around the problem since posting it?
Thank you for your answer!

Alex

Hi Alex,
We cannot send the solution. It is huge. It has several projects in it and hundreds of recordings. I also got it to crash twice and I sent the information with the window that is provided by ranorex when it crashes.
I really hope you can help.
Thanks

That's not a problem, we got an FTP upload server you can get access to. I saw that one of your colleagues is already in touch with support, trying to provide the solution.mojohlic wrote:We cannot send the solution. It is huge. It has several projects in it and hundreds of recordings.
We currently suspect it to be some special case that the code parser has problems with, since we do performance tests with very large projects with every version. That's why getting the solution is key in order to reproduce and hopefully fix the issue then.

An update to that issue:
We were able to identify and fix the problematic performance lag. The issue was tested with the projects we got from you guys and will be shipped with the upcoming service release 5.1.2.
The service release is scheduled for next week.
