I want to test in the windwos calculator if the button that the mouse is on gets highlighted or not (turns form grey to orange) but I didn't manage to do a screenshot of the button when it is orange - so if i want it to compare it compares the hightlighted orange with the usual grey and fails...
how can I manage this?

It's not exactly what you are looking for, but you could validate that the button has focus when you move the mouse over it. Your test would look something like this:
