Cannot identify object in a different station

Post by Nono » Tue Oct 22, 2013 2:34 pm

Hi guys,

I am recording and writing tests on my own computer, and testers are running the test cases using a designated running machine.
I have a test which I need to click on a button, which is being identified by ranorex as "[email protected]" (which is my local machine ip). It will identify it and run the test on my machine but cannot find it on our running machine (which obviously has a different IP...). I've changed the item path to be like this, using regex, so it'll be visible in other machines without being dependent on my IP, like you can see in the screenshot.
But it's still not working....I am very frustrated. What can be done?

Hi Nono,

Could you post the error message which is shown in the report when you execute your script on the running machine?
Do you get a technology limitation warning when you execute it on the running machines?
Please also post or send (to [email protected]) a Ranorex snapshot file of this span tag.
The following link will show you how to generate a snapshot file: Creating Ranorex Snapshot Files.

Thanks,
Markus
