If you could submit the ticket with all your details, that would be great for the completeness of info, but they are also already looking into solving executescript permissions.

Any updates on this topic?
The old extension (1.3.1) has been removed from the chrome store already although the new one still does not support ExecuteScript..
It´s a pitty that Ranorex leaves its customers alone with this problem without giving proper advice how and when to migrate to the new extension..

+1

And now the old extension is suddenly back ... good news as I also realized that dynamic scripts were not running when using the plugin version 1.4.0 ! :?

And I've wasted hours to find that out ... for a software that is supposed to increase your productivity, it's hard to understand such an absence of communication, not talking about quality.

Here is the preview of the release notes (will be live within ~1.5 weeks):

"This release includes important updates to our Chrome and Firefox extensions.
Chrome Extension
  • Chrome Extension V3 version 1.4.1 is compatible with Ranorex versions 10.7.5 to current.
  • Chrome Extension V3 version 1.4.0 is compatible with Ranorex versions 10.7.2 to 10.7.4.
  • Chrome Extension V2 version 1.3.1 is compatible with Ranorex versions prior to 10.7.2.
Firefox Extension
  • The Firefox extension is bundled in with the Ranorex download file.
  • To get the new version of the Firefox extension, the user must download the latest Ranorex release.
  • The new extension cannot be installed manually with older versions of Ranorex.
  • The old version of the Firefox extension is compatible with Ranorex versions prior to and including 10.7.4."
Manifest V2 which allows the use of executescript will work with Ranorex versions up to but not including 10.7.2. Manifest V3 works with versions 10.7.2 and after.

So for clarity... if I want to use the ExecuteScript feature/function, I MUST use Ranorex's Chrome extension 1.3.1 with 10.7.1 and I cannot update beyond this because Ranorex 10.7.2 or later will require 1.4.0 extension or later which uses v3 of Manifest AND therefore execute script will no longer work?

Does this mean you are NOT looking for a solution to continue supporting ExecuteScript?

As an aside, I currently have Ranorex 10.1.6 and the 1.3.1 extension installed and I'd like to install 10.7.1 to see if the last supported version of Ranorex will work for me. When I run the setup, if I choose to install everything, it installs v3 1.4.0 extension and my scripts do not work due to ExecuteScript calls. So I uninstalled 10.7.1, rebooted my system, and checked that 1.3.1 extension is still showing in Chrome extensions, reinstalled Ranorex 10.7.1 but chose to not install the plugins. So now I have the last supported version and the Chrome extension 1.3.1 in my browser, but I don't think the extension is working because I'm getting technology limitations error. How can I fix this? If I try the instrumentation wizard it uses 1.4.0 of the extension.... Help!

At the moment, yes.

"Does this mean you are NOT looking for a solution to continue supporting ExecuteScript?"

There is a project planned for early next year to determine a Ranorex workaround for the executescript issue prior to Google deprecating V2 abilities.

For the installation disparity issue, your best bet would be to contact support for assistance.
