Please do not post any questions, answers, screenshots or something similar from the Ranorex Certification here!

This topic is more intended to provide useful information on how to prepare best for the exam and to raise some questions on the scope and content!

For a detailed look on the content of the certification please see the curriculum:

The following question was posted elsewhere:
I can appreciate that a knowledge of coding would be helpful, but it is it required for the certification exam?
Please find my answer here:
for the certification exam there is no knowledge of coding necessary!

Please see the Certification FAQ "Do I have to be a developer to take the exam?" here or just check the curriculum of the certification: What is being asked. There you'll find only one bullet point in Lesson 7 - Code Modules which is "What reasons there might be for using code modules".

Again, no coding knowledge is necessary for passing the exam but it's more the understanding of reasons for switching to code and the scope of the Ranorex Recorder and all actions available via the UI.
I hope that helps!

Hi all,
Today I made the certification, I'm using Ranorex API since a "few" years (2006) with some interruptions. Also my first though was, oh no, how can I get this certificate. Because I used the Ranorex Studio very seldom.

How I learned for the exam:
I started a project two month ago, with one of my working colleagues. She came from the QTP world, before she started to work for us, and she has only basic OO programming knowledge, but she is strongly skilled about to test our software manually and she has a lot of sophisticated workflows.
I said to her lets start a test automation project with Ranorex Studio, lets see if we are able to automate a sophisticated workflow, without our Ranorex API based framework, where we don't use the Ranorex Studio at all.
The goal was, just using Ranorex Studio, with an B2B Library, where we uploaded, requested or manipulated some data, to have our application in a certain state or to pass data to the GUI or that we can manipulate the GUI. I learned a lot, especially how to design test suites and test cases, modules and how to work with parameters and variable, and how to make them reusable...

I have to be honest, i was bit nervous if I will pass the exam if this exercise was enough or so.

But the question are fair and well balanced over all topics and with a bit logical thinking, you should be able to answer the question without any problem.
I also had the fear, that they will ask really specific question. But they kept the question very general. If someone know how Ranorex works, then everybody will manage to answer the questions.

Regards
Dan

I passed the certification exam over the weekend, after having used Ranorex for a few months to test a web application. My preparation included using the software, studying the user guide (lessons one to nine) and viewing the Ranorex screencasts.

Personally I found the exam reasonably difficult, it took a little time to read the questions carefully to ensure I correctly understood what was being asked for. Based on my experience, my suggestion would be to become quite familiar with everything in the first nine lessons, before taking the exam.

Good luck to anyone who takes it!
