All, first post for me.
I've got an issue that I can't figure out. I'll click on the Edit in Spy link in the recorder and it will take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes for it to complete. This just started to happen last week. The previous times I used Edit in Spy it wouldn't take more than 30 seconds to complete. After recording a test step the path that is displayed is ?/?/div. So at that point I have to stop with anymore test steps, go into Edit in Spy, click the link, wait up to 2 minutes for it to complete THEN I can click on Track and click on the item I'm testing and FINALLY get the right path to it and proceed. The issue is I have to do this process for EACH TEST STEP! This has the side-affect of making my test creation take 10-15 times longer than it was taking the first time I was doing this.
Edit in spy taking 90 seconds or more to complete
Re: Edit in spy taking 90 seconds or more to complete
Hi,
same for me. I'm using Ranorex Studio 10.7.0 32bit.
And standalone Ranorex Spy 10 (64bit).
It takes up to 2 minutes for Ranorex Spy to process any rxpath on web page. The element is found pretty quick like in 1,5s, but then there's a message like "Building results three". This operation takes up to 2 min every time and it makes me dying inside waiting and looking on frozen Spy interface. Then eventually it shows the path.
Building the whole solution takes about 3 sec on my machine. 16 CPU cores, 32GB RAM. Execution of compiled script goes well in terms of speed.
BUT investigating rxpaths with Spy is a hassle..
I was trying to give "Real time" priority to both Spy and Ranorex add-on in Chrome and Edge in Process Explorer. No visible change.
Regards,
Tomek

Re: Edit in spy taking 90 seconds or more to complete
Hi, not sure if you've tried these troubleshooting steps already:
- Make sure that there aren't any other open applications running aside from Ranorex Studio and the application you are testing.
- Use the Whitelist if the above isn't possible
- Check the Task Manager to see if the machine is low on resources (RAM is above 80%, CPU utilization is unusually high, etc.)
Lazar, does this same behavior occur using the standalone Spy Tool?
Tomek, have you tried matching versions (either both 32-bit or both 64-bit)?
If the troubleshooting didn't help, this would be great to report to the support team.

Re: Edit in spy taking 90 seconds or more to complete
I switched to Spy (32bit) running in Administrator mode.
On White List there's only Edge.
Also only Edge is instrumented to use Ranorex web add-on.
I'm using Ranorex web add-on ver. 1.4.0
No change.

I see, looks like a direct ticket could be a better bet then - https://www.ranorex.com/support-query/
Re: Edit in spy taking 90 seconds or more to complete
I found solution - at least works for me.
That was my monitor DPI settings problem.
To resolve:
- Right click on desktop, and select "Display Settings".
- Find "Scale and Layout" section.
- Change the size of text, apps.. to "100%"
That's it.
In my case I had the value set to 125%.
I hope this will help somebody
