Excel Databiding - and MSOffice.

Post by palbaret » Wed Sep 05, 2012 12:17 pm

Hi everyone,

we are using for our test an Excel file, and on the machine where we execute tests, we have installed the dotNet framework 3.5, we don't have any MSOffice installed on this machine.

When we are running tests a strange error occurs:

Code: Select all

Failed to get rows from data source: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)).
Do we need to install MSOffice on our execution machine or any other third party software (OpenOffice,...)?

Thanks for your help

Hello,

Unfortunately you have to install Microsoft Excel because the ExcelDataConnector requires Excel to be installed.

Thanks for your answer.

Do you know if Ranorex needs other third party product to run except dotnet framework?

if we use a csv file as databinding, do we need Excel installed?

Hello,

There are no other third party products which need to be installed.
You just have to install Excel if you want to use some excel files as data source.

Just to answer this question, no, Excel is not needed in case of CSV file. I just found it myself while testing the CSV file on VM machine without MS office.
