Hello,
I'm checking different automation tools to be used for automation in our company.
Our application is a Windows based WPF appication that is managed by touch screen (like a tablet or mobile device).
1. Does Ranorex support tap and multi touch events?
2. What about integration with Jenkins? Automation tests should be executed through Jenkins tool.
Is screen tap technology supported by Ranorex?
Re: Is screen tap technology supported by Ranorex?
Hi Vasiliy and welcome here:
Ranorex currently does not support Windows 10 Mobile OS. So you are out of luck with windows phone devices. I'm not quite sure about the touch support for tablet-like devices with full Windows OS, but I guess it should work? Why don't you give it a try? You can get Ranorex trial >here<, which is fully functional for 30 days (with nag screen displayed during Studio or replay start).
As for Jenkins integration, you can learn about it here:
http://www.ranorex.com/blog/integrating ... on-process
I'm using it and it works quite well.

thanks for the reply.
Our application runs under full Windows OS. Where can I get more information about your "guess"?
Where can I learn about how to write tests using Ranorex?

Hi,
Starting with Ranorex is, in my opinion, quite easy and straightforward. Just install Ranorex trial, start Studio and record your first (simple) test. If the touch/swipes are not recorded, you should be able to add them manually... Probably the best places to learn how to start with Ranorex are these links:

http://www.ranorex.com/automated-testing-webinars.html - you can find some of the past webinars at youtube

Re: Is screen tap technology supported by Ranorex?
Hi,
First of all I'd like to provide more information about AUT:
- Our application is 64 bit that is running under Windows 10 (64 bit).
- Application is built from MFC and WPF controls.
- Touch screen is used instead of mouse and keyboard devices.
I have downloaded the latest version of Ranorex and checked the touch support.
The following was found:
1. During the record operation Ranorex recognizes actions as touch/double tap operations. But when trying to replay these actions a cursor appears above control and nothing happens (action does not occur). This issue is relevant for touch, long touch and double tap.
2. Swipe operation is working.
Workaround for touch and double tap operations can be replaced by Click method. But we still need a touch support.
Is it possible to check why touch does not work on Windows 10 desktop applications?
What is the chance that in the next versions of Ranorex this issue will be resolved?

Hi,
According to >this post<, touch actions on Win10 currently works with only some elements. The only known workaround is to use mouse-based actions for those non-working elements.

Re: Is screen tap technology supported by Ranorex?
I developed a working solution for injection touch, pinch, pan events. So I can say that the problem is not in Windows 10 it is an issue with Ranorex.
