Hi,
I have a problem on connecting our license server after upgrade the ranorex version from 3.0 into 3.2. Currently we are using floating license for the ranorex software, and i saw few statements on the release notes for 3.2:-
- Improved performance and handling of aborted connections in Ranorex license server protocol (Note: the license server version must always be equal to or higher than the client version)
- The Ranorex License Server Tool now shows the host name of clients (using Ranorex V3.2 or higher)
Can you explain further what license server version you guys refer to? Ranorex version?
Thanks.
Regards,
swyap

Re: Not able to connect license server after upgrade into 3.2
We refer to the Ranorex License Server installation that is running on the license server machine you are connecting to.swyap wrote:an you explain further what license server version you guys refer to?
With every Ranorex Client Version a new Ranorex License Server version is released. The Ranorex License Server version always needs to be equal to or newer than the version of the Ranorex clients connecting to the server. The Ranorex License Server is fully backwards compatible, so make sure you always have the latest Ranorex License Server version installed, please.
In general, it is sufficient to update the Ranorex License Server with every minor version release, i.e. with the release of Ranorex 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2.
The link to our download-archive providing the latest Ranorex versions is sent to all customers with every new Ranorex version.

Alex

Re: Not able to connect license server after upgrade into 3.2
Hi,
We have upgraded the license server version into 3.2.0.15301 as per your advice, but still we having problem where the server failed to load and prompts out below message:
"Not connected to Ranorex License Server. Please check that the Ranorex License Server service is running."
It said that the Service is not started, but in fact it is started. Server has also re-started once the installation is completed.
Please find attached files (Attachement1.png) for your refences. Kindly advice, thanks.

Hi,
The Licence Server Tool on your screenshot seems to be an older version (not 3.2.x). You can check this by clicking on the Ranorex Logo on the upper right corner.
Please uninstall all your Licence Server Tool packages and install the Licence Server 3.2.x.

Martin

Re: Not able to connect license server after upgrade into 3.2
Hi,
As per your advice, we already uninstall the old version and upgrade the new version 3.2 in our license server (refer screenshot attached pic.png). Hence, we still encounter problem when try to load the license keys, ranorex system prompts us "Key 'XXXX' could not be added. The number of installations allowed for this license key has been exceeded" (refer screenshot attached pic1.png / pic2.png).
** note - 3 license keys also prompts above message.
Are there any alternative way where you guys can help me to have a look on that problem.
Kindly advice. Thanks.

Hi,
sounds like you're trying to install a floating license - which has been registered to one machine - on another machine, and that's not possible.
Please install the license server and the floating licenses on the machine the licenses had been registered to.
If that does not help, please contact support_at_ranorex.com and provide the host name of the license server and the license keys.

Tobias
