Hi,
Ranorex version 3.2
Adobe Reader 11.0.12
I am using ranorex spy 64 bit to read pdf contents. The following is what I am getting.
/form[@title~'^Report\.']/element[@class='AVL_AVView' and @instance='3']/element[@class='AVL_AVView' and @instance='0']/element[@class='AVL_AVView']/element[@class='AVL_AVView']/element[@class='AVL_AVView']/element[@class='AVL_AVView' and @instance='0']
I tried using ranorex 32 bit (on same machine) and it is getting elements correctly.
Enable 64/32 bit bridge option is checked.
Re-installed Ranorex and Adobe.
I have a different 64 bit test machine with same ranorex version and adobe version, no issues on that.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Ranorex 64 bit unable to read pdf contents.

Re: Ranorex 64 bit unable to read pdf contents.
Hi SumyKuriakose,
Unfortunately, we cannot support Ranorex 3.2 any longer.
Please update Ranorex to our current version, Ranorex 5.4.1.
Thank you for your understanding.
Kind regards,
Robert

Hi,
As mentioned, version 3.2 is pretty old and no longer supported. But if 32bit Spy works OK for you, so why do you need to use 64bit Spy? Simply use 32bit version and build your test project as 32bit compatible and problem is gone
Another thing you might try is to reinstall .Net and runtime libs on that particular machine.

Re: Ranorex 64 bit unable to read pdf contents.
Hi,
Installed Ranorex 5.4.1. Now both 32 bit and 64 bit is not working.
Any other properties that I need to check/change?

Hi SumyKuriakose,
Which pdf reader do you use. I use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. When Spying into the document a popup should appear where you can enable the accessibility. After doing so Ranorex was able to identify the text within the document.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Bernhard

Re: Ranorex 64 bit unable to read pdf contents.
I am using Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.12.18. I have set Reading Mode Options to 'Read the entire document'.
Ranorex Spy 64 bit was not able to read the document. 32 bit was fine with ranorex older version but with v5.4.1 32 bit is also not working.
Re-installing also did not work.

Hi SumyKuriakose,
Unfortunately, your issue is not reproducible on our machines. Is the issue related to a specific PDF document? If possible, please send the corresponding file to [email protected] for further analyses.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Ranorex 64 bit unable to read pdf contents.
Hi,
Thank you for your response. This is not related to any specific pdf document. I tried several pdf docs.
I have other test machines that work fine with same settings.
I am using Adobe Reader v 11.0.12
Ranorex 5.4.1
MS Office 2013

Hello SumyKuriakose,
I’m afraid that it’s really hard to help you in this matter, since the issue is most likely related to your machine. I would suggest comparing the Adobe Reader settings as well as security specific setting. Ensure that the settings are the same on all machines.
Thank you for your understanding.

Robert

Re: Ranorex 64 bit unable to read pdf contents.
It was office 2013. Uninstalled 2013 and ranorex started working.
Found another machine with same issue and it also had MS office 2013.
Now both machines has MS office 2010 and ranorex works fine (both 32 bit and 64 bit).
Thank you for all the help
