Just installed 5.3.1 running on a virtual machine running XP.

Started Studio and just as the main screen appeared it crashed with an Unexpected Exception Encountered popup.
Clicked on Close which displayed the following:
The unhandled exception caused the application to be in an inconsistent state; the application needs to be restarted.
Clicked OK and this brought Studio up again with another crash (in a loop)

Note: Other 5.3.1 Ranorex apps operate as expected (Spy, Recorder, Test suite Runner). The previous version of Studio operates as expected, 3.0.5.

are you using iOS 8.3 ? that could be the reason.

This sounds like a corrupt install to me.

Please try performing a clean re-install.

1. Uninstall Ranorex 5.3.1.
2. Reboot.
3. Re-install Ranorex using the following file: http://www.ranorex.com/download/Ranorex-5.3.1.exe

If that doesn't fix it, then there may be something wrong with the prerequisites.

I installed 5.3.1 on two XP machines. One installation was an upgrade, second - a fresh install. In both cases Ranorex Studio crashes with the same errors as ablang_58 exhibited in his post. Reinstallation doesn't work. Is there any way to have Ranorex working on Windows XP?

Hi tomaszp,

Could it be that an older version of Internet Explorer is installed on your XP machine?
With Ranorex 5 it is required to have IE7 or higher installed.

Please do let us know if updating the IE fixed the problem.
