RxAgent (but not RxStudio) throws error: JIRA credentials not found

Post by MUP » Thu Oct 21, 2021 7:36 am

Both machines running W10Pro64bit v21H1 build 19043.1288, all updates integrated, same user in active session.
Valid floating licences for both RxStudio 10.1.1 and RxAgent 7.3.0
"Copy Runtime to Output" was set.
Tried RxStudio Testrun in 32bit and 64bit both.

Simple test (open and close Chrome) works well on PC hosting RxStudio.
Once running the test on the PC hosting the RxAgent from within RxStudio using the green triangle the error was thrown.

"Tools > ... Removing connection to Jira" and rebuilding the JIRA jsd module doesnt change the situation.
Same error was thrown at RxAgent when I started the testrun from within CLI using jiu and jip.

On the PC hosting the RxAgent I could connect to JIRA using Chrome with same credentials just used for building the jsd with no problems and are able to operate in JIRA.

The JIRA username contains 2 underlines just like "AB_CD_EF".
Once opening "Tools > Jira integration" there will be displayed "Sign out (ABCD_EF)".
1 underline is missing.

The JIRA server is not in the cloud.
The JIRA password is not a token.

The following removing operation works good at RxStudio, but could the missing first underline cause the "no credentials found" at RxAgent?
Where can I check the JIRA credentials set by Tools > Jira on the PC hosting RxStudio?
Can I see somewhere which credentials were sent to or were used by the RxAgents?

... or am I missing some .NET files?

Thanks.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I have a zero experience with Ranorex2Jira integration, so I will be not much of help here. But just for fun, have you tried to double the missing underline in Tools>Jira configuration?

Thanks for the hint.
Yes. I tried doubling the underline in CLI. But no success.

If I try to reconnect to JIRA from "Tools > Jira integration ..." then of course the JIRA user name with double underline will be rejected from JIRA server, this is an unknwon user.

Interesting:
Closed my RxStudio, so releasing the floating lic.
Then I installed a RxStudio at the PC hosting the RxAgent, applied the lic. and created a small project, setup a connection to JIRA (same creds).
This project run with no problems connection to JIRA.
Then I removed the lic, closed the second RxStudio.
Only the RxAgent is active in systray.

Went back to my PC hosting my first RxStudio, tried again the testrun failed before.
Now I can see in the RxAgent-Loggerwindoed "Connection to JIRA successfully".
The testrun was executed successfully by the RxAgent, JIRA issue also was updated successfully.
(tried again the same procedure: Waiting nearly for 15 minutes after removing the lic the same error occured).

Now I uninstalled the RxStudio from the PC hosting the RxAgent.
A testrun was successfully again.
Now I rebooted the PC hosting the RxAgent with the uninstalled second RxStudio.
After that the same error occured "JIRA credentials not found".

I have the strange feeling: The underline will be processed in a wrong way by RX when transferring the creds to the RxAgent.

@SupportTeam
Would you please start an investigation?
Many thanks and best regards.

Searching the internet: The underscore problem is over 3 years old.

For testing purposes I got a JIRA username with no underscores.
All went good now.
But the funniest thing: I can continue using the username with 1 or 2 underscores from within Ranorex.
A perfect security breach.
