When Safari had a version for Windows Ranorex worked just fine, but now Safari for Windows is discontinued.
I know that it's possible to test Safari on device.
Is there any other way to execute a test on Safari? Maybe via remote connection?

Rohal

Re: Support for Safari
Hello Rohal,
In order to automate web testing on an iOS device, we use our already instrumented RxBrowser app. The reason why this is necessary is, that Safari cannot be instrumented on iOS devices. Unfortunately, Ranorex cannot recognize the elements within Safari and that's the reason why it will also not work via remote connection.
Regards,
Bernhard

Re: Support for Safari
It is a pity Ranorex has no support for it. Safari holds up to 20% browsers share and cannot be ingnored in multibrowser tests. I recommend my clients Selenium over Ranorex mainly for this reason, if multibrowser tests are important.
HP UFT can run tests on Safari via remote. I guess they use Selenium Webdriver under the hood. I think Ranorex team shoudl be able to develop someting similar.

Re: Support for Safari
Hello geyzer,
I'm not exactly sure, but there seems to be a misunderstanding. Ranorex still supports Safari (the last supported version for windows operating system). Unfortunately, it is currently not supported for MacOS.
However we are always investigating how to make Ranorex better including web testing, but that's all I can say about that.
Regards,
Bernhard

Re: Support for Safari
Safari 5 has no visible market presence, and Safari found on Macs these days is much different.
In reality terms, there is no suport for Safari by Ranorex, and true crossbrowser test automation is not possible. One still has to execute the test on Safari manually.
I understand the technical challange to provide support for Safari. I guess it is possible with remote connection to Mac and having there Ranorex app installed.
However, the question if this feature worths the investment, remains open.
I, personally, would love to have it.
