Is it possible to test mobile applications with Ranorex version 5? Do you have step by step instructions how to setup environment, Ranorex or simulator for testing mobile applications?

Depends on what you mean by mobile testing?
Ranorex 5 currently supports iOS and Android testing (WP8 support is under development). To start with iOS/Android testing, I would suggest you to start here:
