Validate controls on Chrome & FF in Windows 8

Post by khaihuynh148 » Fri May 03, 2013 4:46 am

Hi,

I've just upgraded to Windows 8 and currently face some difficulties while recording scripts on Chrome & Firefox. When I try to validate an item on the main working area of the browser, Ranorex cannot recognize them. Could anyone help me solve this problem? I really appreciate that.

Thanks,
Khai Huynh

Hi,

Does the Ranorex spy recognize the page elements? It would be helpful if you submit a Ranorex snapshot (either from Chrome or FF) or eventually, post a link to the page you trying to automate.

  • Ranorex Snapshot. Learn how to create one >here<
  • Ranorex xPath of problematic element(s)
  • Ranorex version
  • OS version
  • HW configuration

Thanks for your attention. I've just realized that Ranorex Spy can only recognize the field which is being focused, and it keeps asking me to enable the Ranorex add-on although it is already enabled. I attached 2 screenshots for reference.

So, you need to follow the instructions how to instrument the Chrome...
http://www.ranorex.com/support/user-gui ... hrome.html

and similar steps for FF...

Hi,

Are you sure you also enabled the Ranorex Automation Extension in Chrome?
Could it be that you have removed the Ranorex Automation Extension manually?
If so you have to re-add the Extension manually as described in the link odklizec posted.

Regards,
Markus

Hi Markus,

I am pretty sure that the Ranorex Automation Extention was enabled in Chrome. Is it possible that you can set up a remote session to my PC to see what is wrong with my browsers?

Thanks,

I re-installed both Ranorex and Chrome and it is working now. Thanks for your help! :)
