Ranorex User Guide recommends xlsb format

Hello,

The Ranorex User Guide recommends the use of the binary (xlsb) format to use for excel data files. Is this still true? (In Lesson 3: Data-Driven Testing)
Note: It is recommended to store your Excel data files in the native binary format xlsb instead of the suggested default format xlsx. The binary format is up to ten times faster than xlsx, and supported since Microsoft Office 2007.

Right below the User Guide page though, the sample screen shots are showing the use of .xls or .xlsx format.

Also, I had a short demo/session with Ranorex Support and the excel file used in the session was also a .xlsx or whatever default format excel uses and not the binary (xlsb).

I'm a little confused and need some clarification on this.

Thanks.
Gilbert

Hi,

Binary files are faster to process. I believe this is the main and only reason why it's recommended to uses xlsb over xlsx.
