Is it possible for Ranorex to determine if the text is in a specific format? (Italic/bold)

Unfortunately, it's hard to say how to achieve what you want, without knowing the UI technology you are using. Ideally, we would need to see the app under test (a small demo app) or, at very least, a Ranorex snapshot (NOT screenshot) of app under test, plus the xpath to element in question. In a theroy yes, it may be possible to validate text style. But it highly depends on tested UI technology.
