Licensing question

Hi,
I've got a node-locked premium license, and now we're unifying our test machine names in the department so I changed the computer name. Immediately Ranorex stopped working. I changed the name back and it's fine now, but I was wondering if there was an easy way to change the machine name and keep Ranorex working?

Hi,

That's the easiest way.
A node locked license "cannot be moved" to another machine after it was successfully registered to a specific machines name, such a license transfer can only be done by the Ranorex Team but as written a node locked license is not designed to be registered on different machines.
If there are special circumstances and if there is no other way than to transfer it, it is possible if you have a valid subscription. Then the easiest way would be to click on the "Uninstall License" button in the Ranorex Licensing Tool.

Yes, I have a valid subscription.
So are you saying that I can click Uninstall License, then change the computer name, reboot, and then click Install License again and it will work?

No, this won't work, as you have to perform a license transfer.

To perform a license transfer just press "Transfer License" button in Ranorex Licensing Tool.
This will prepare your license for transferring from one machine to another.
All necessary information will be send to the Ranorex Support Team and they will contact you for further steps.
