Ranorex Spy does not update element path after test fails

When something fails in your test, because the item checked changed (e.g. changed ID) it is natural to click Edit (with Spy) in the repository pane and click Track in the spy to point to the item that should be validated or actuated. However after doing so the xPath in the spy window does not change, so I cannot apply it immediately.
I have figured out a workaround for this: I would point the cursor at the failing element and use hotkey LCtrl+LWin and replace the old element with the new one in step, then cleanup the repository to remove the old one.
Even though a workaround is possible, it is awkward and seems that a feature that was designed to make maintenance task easy fails.

If this is not an easily reproducable problem, I can share details about my environment and projects upon request.

Hi Badum,

May I ask which version of Ranorex are you using? If you do not use our current version please update Ranorex and check if you can reproduce the issue with the new version.
Does it just take a long time until the RanoreXPaht is shown or does the path never appear?

Regards,
Bernhard

I am using version 5.1.0.18625 (the one that I got for trial a couple of weeks ago).
The path does not change after clicking - the old path still shows. I think I have been waiting for long enough, also tried it many times.
If you contact me on Skype, I can share my screen and give you more immediate details. Skype name is same as email, but just replace @ sign with a dot.

Hi Badum,

I have tried to reach you via Skype without success. I am not available within the next two weeks.
Can you please write an email to [email protected] in order to arrange an appointment for a remote session with one of my colleagues?
Thank you.

Regards,
Bernhard
