Way to search and assign an existing Item for a validation

Post by DonRaul » Thu Feb 10, 2011 7:35 pm

The more Items I add in my Repository, the bigger is my choice of the Repository. For a Validation Action it's usually nessesary to

1. track & add the Element to the Repository
2. add a Recording-Step with the Action 'Validate'.

To use the added element item, I have to choose the right item from the list by clicking on the 'Item Name' of my validation recording step. Unfortunately the size of this list is not enough big for a rapid assignment of elements, especially when the repository has many elements. Moreover, the elements should be sorted alphabetically correct by the full Path of the Repository.

Or is there a better way to create validation recording steps manually?

There is a Screenshot attached on this topic.

Using [Ranorex Studio Version 2.3.8.10854] :D

Thank you for posting this feature request. We are already aware of that problem - and we already fixed it for the upcoming V3.0 release :D In V3.X a dialog will be shown that allows you to choose and search for the repository item you would like to link to the recording action.

You can also add validation actions during a recording, see the following section in the Ranorex User Guide:
