What's the plan with 3.3 stream and browser support?

Post by Aracknid » Tue Feb 12, 2013 9:28 pm

Hi,

I'm currently on 3.3.5 and I don't necessarily want to move to 4.0.2, although I saw that this newer version now supports newer Chrome/Firefox browsers.

Are you planning to continue to support the newer browsers on the 3.3 stream?

What is the current last supported version of these browsers on the 3.3 stream?

Thanks,

Aracknid.

Hello,

No, it is not planned to continue the support for newer Browers in Ranorex 3.3.
Supported Browsers in 3.3.5 are Firefox 18, Chrome 23, Safari 5.1.7.

Regards,
Bernhard

I've been using Chrome 24 and it is mostly working fine. I've run into a few issue that I'm not sure are Chrome specific (would happen in any version) or Chrome 24 specific and this is why it's not supported...

Since you said Chrome 23 was the last supported version, I'll go back to that version and see if I still have the same issues... but I was wondering if maybe you meant to say Chrome 24 was the last supported version... :)

Hi Aracknid
There were no substantial changes to the Chrome addon between Chrome 23 and Chrome 24. Everything which works with Chrome 23 should work with Chrome 24. If there are any Chrome issues then they probably are not dependent on the chrome version, and there are no bug fixes for Chrome/Safari in Ranorex 4.0.2 which are not in Ranorex 3.3.5.

We currently do not plan to officially support new browser versions in the 3.3 branch, however new Chrome versions tend to work fine, Firefox won't, unfortunately.

I hope that clarifies it.
