Where to find actual version for RxVersion and RxLibVersion

Post by mraurelien » Wed Mar 08, 2017 5:02 pm

Hi,
I'm a new user trying to make ranorex work with my project.
I'm trying to implement the instrumentation by code since the APK modification with the wizard does not work.

I found the page for that. But the step 4 is bugging me :
In your AndroidManifest.xml under the application node add:
XML
view plaincopy to clipboardprint
<meta-data android:name="RxVersion" android:value="5.0.0" />
<meta-data android:name="RxLibVersion" android:value="1.5.0" />
with the corresponding Ranorex and automation library version.
But ... where can i find the correct versions ?

I guess RxVersion might be 6.2.1 but the RxLibVersion version is maybe corresponding to the "services" version that is written in the mobile Ranorex services app ? It doesn't seem so. When i compile and run the Spy view, i can't spy anything, just start the application. And when i try to record something i got a message about outdated version of the automation library.

So, this might be a simple question but it doesn't seem to be documented : Where can i find the actual version of RxVersion and RxLibVersion ?

Thank's

Hi,

You can find appropriate libs for actual Ranorex build here:
http://www.ranorex.com/support/user-gui ... chive.html
Pavel Kudrys
Ranorex explorer at Descartes Systems

Please add these details to your questions:
  • Ranorex Snapshot. Learn how to create one >here<
  • Ranorex xPath of problematic element(s)
  • Ranorex version
  • OS version
  • HW configuration

This is not clear : RxVersion and RxLibVersion is not mentionned anywhere. I'm using Android plateform.
This might be a stupid question but what correspond to what ?

Actually if i put :
RxVersion = 6.2.1 (that is corresponding to the last version of actual Ranorex i guess ?)
RxLibVersion = 2.3.0 (that should be corresponding to "RxAutomation Library" ?)

I got a message from the Studio that the Automation Lib used is not compatible when i use the recorder...

I think the documentation should be updated and even better : we should see those version written in the About screen or somewhere in the Ranorex Studio ! When i got that message about outdated version of the library, why not putting the actual installed version here also ?

Answer to myself and every person that may ask the same question :
RxVersion is corresponding to the version Ranorex product installed. Actually the last one is 6.2.1.
RxLibVersion is related to "Android Web Testing" version related to the Ranorex product installed (see the link provided by odklizec).

Well i'm going to repeat myself : those information should be clearly displayed somewhere in the studio !

I had to instrument an APK, decompile and look at the manifest to see which version was used automaticaly by the studio...
