Hi,

what could be wrong when I record:

1. click Start (Win10)
2. Click Notepad (on Most used list)

When I try to run this, Notepad is not found.

I'm afraid, there is not enough info in your post to provide a reasonable answer. Please add the following details:
- Ranorex version
- recorded xpath for the notepad icon
- exact error message you are getting

Have you compared recorded xpath with the actual one? My guess is that a part of the xpath is dynamic and changes with each opening of start menu? Eventually, it changes after adding new most used app to the list?

In addition to what Pavel said, can you also please explain what you are trying to do? Usually there is no need for Ranorex to interact with the Windows start menu/button or any shortcuts as Ranorex can run the application directly. Since you aren't testing Windows functionality (Microsoft doesn't use Ranorex), the steps you listed are likely out of scope for what you really want to test, so there really isn't a need to spend time on it.

Yes, I can start the application other ways (e.g. Run command)

I just would like to check that start menu has the icon of AUT and it can be started by clicking it.

There was no problem doing this with Windows7 but it cannot be done with Windows10 ?
