Hi guys,
When can we expect Ranorex to have a version that works with Windows 10 and the new browser they have. It's out in about a month, and I'm already being asked to start validating that our scripts will work with the new browser.
Sorry if this has already been asked. Couldn't find it.
Thanks,
Aracknid.
Windows 10 and new browser
Re: Windows 10 and new browser
My understanding is that the Ranorex team is "working on it".
The problem is that Edge is still an alpha product and even at release of Windows 10, Edge will not be a full-featured browser, so it will be hard to nail down exactly what will and won't work in terms of Ranorex interoperability.
My guess would be that they will have at least a prototype Edge plugin available around the middle-to-end of next month, but it could be coming with 5.4.0, which is supposed to be coming very soon, maybe within a week or so.
But, it's a guess...

Re: Windows 10 and new browser
Hi everybody,
we are currently working on Edge support, but unfortunately I cannot give you a release date yet.
Currently, all I can say is that it looks good and we hope we can release it in one of our upcoming versions.
Regards,
Bernhard

Re: Windows 10 and new browser
Any news regarding the support?
11 days till official release of Edge, but we cannot run auto tests there.
We love Ranorex and don't want to run all those tests manually

Re: Windows 10 and new browser
I cannot find Edge browser in the list when I have the Open Browser step in my tests. I have Ranorex running on Windows 10. Also IE11 no longer opens if you select IE from the Open Browser list..
Re: Windows 10 and new browser
Hi,
According to the 5.4 release notes, support for MS Edge is just preliminary (I guess mainly Edge element recognition), so this is most probably why "Edge" cannot be found in "Open Browser" action. Opening IE11 works fine for me on Win7 but I have no experience with Win10, so it's possible there is something broken/not working yet?
